Current Status

We are currently working on finalizing the 2.0 implementation of jATLAS. A last beta version should be released soon. Stay tuned!

October 15th, 2003 - New ATLAS website is unveiled!

We would like to apologize for having stayed silent for so long but a lot has happened behind the scene! NIST is now phasing out of the ATLAS project maintenance and offers the code to the open-source community.

We are also unveiling a new website for ATLAS which will hopefully make it easier to maintain and provide better, more accurate documentation.

January 27th, 2003 - jATLAS 2.0 Beta 5a is released!

Some files were apparently missing in the previous release. We apologize for any in convenience. This problem has now been fixed.

January 24th, 2003 - jATLAS 2.0 Beta 5 is released!

We are pleased to announce a new Beta version of jATLAS 2.0, the Java implementation of ATLAS. This new revision is mostly a bug fix release.

September 13th, 2002 - jATLAS 2.0 Beta 4 is released!

We are pleased to announce a new Beta version of jATLAS 2.0, the Java implementation of ATLAS. This new revision introduces significant architectural changes in order to simplify the development of new implementations. We also fixed lots of bugs. The API has been updated to provide more explicit method names. MAIA and the definition language has been updated. We will now try to provide more frequent updates to address users feedback faster.

As always, we are looking forward to hear from you, should it be for feedback or bug report!

The papers section has been updated as well with two new papers and a presentation. Please have a look!

We are well on our way to release a new beta version of the API implementation but we are not quite there yet. Stay tuned!

March 5th, 2002 - jATLAS 2.0 Beta 3 is released!

We are pleased to announce a new beta version of jATLAS, the Java implement ation of ATLAS. This new revision is functionally identical to the second beta release but we added the source code for MAIA that was missing in the previous releases. Note that if you don't plan on re-compiling the framework itself, there is no need for you to download this new revision. See March 1st announcement for more details.

March 1st, 2002 - jATLAS 2.0 Beta 2 is released!

We are pleased to announce a new beta version of jATLAS, the Java implementation of ATLAS. This is a new revision fixing some problems with the previous beta and cleans up some aspects of the architecture. Moreover, now included is an import module (in its early stages) for Annotation Graph data (a.k.a. ATLAS level 0). MAIA has also been tweaked a little.

The ATLAS website has been updated to reflect the recent changes and jATLAS is avalaible for download. The distribution includes both the Java source, JAR libraries, Javadoc documentation and sample applications. Please download the softw are and take a look. Note however that this release is a beta release and there might be problems with it. We are looking for feedback on both the concepts and the API so that we can continue to make ATLAS progress.

January 28th, 2002 - jATLAS 2.0 Beta is released!

We're pleased to announce a new release of the jATLAS Java implementation of ATLAS. This beta release is a major revision of API and includes the following changes:

  • an improvement of the core ATLAS ontology,
  • the introduction of MAIA: Meta-Annotation Infrastructure for ATLAS, and
  • a complete redesign of the API to match the data model.

The ATLAS website has been updated to reflect the recent changes and jATLAS is avalaible for download.
